CHAMBER CHAT

Egg hunt was a big hit for all
Janice King
Chamber of Commerce Board Chair

The Easter Egg Hunt at Rockdale Resident and Rehabilitation Center was a huge success. This year was the biggest and best ever with over 300 in attendance. It was a wonderful site to see all the excited smiling faces as they lined up to hunt eggs.

Someone yelled ‘Go’ and they were off. It didn’t take long for the eggs to be gathered up and put into baskets. The iTigers painted Easter buckets for those who may have forgotten their baskets. They also had bunny ear head bands and bunny nose with whiskers available for the kids (and some adventurous adults). T he kids waited patiently to have a tattoo put on them. Then at another table, the Cardona family created balloon art for the children.

There was food too. What event is ever a success without a cake walk. And there were cupcakes for all who wanted them. Then the smell of roasted hot dogs filled the air— yum. A big “thank you” to the iTigers, Rockdale Resident and Rehabilitation, the Cardona family and all the many volunteers who helped make this a wonderful event for Rockdale.

ICE CREAM SOCIALS—Now on to the next event. One of our newest Chamber members, Hunters Chase Senior Living Facility, is planning tours and an ice cream social every Friday in the month of May from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Come out and tour the facilities and enjoy some ice cream while you see the beautiful grounds and buildings.

FIREWORKS—Are you ready for fireworks? The Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring Fourth of July in the Park—Fair Park that is.

It will be an afternoon and evening filled with fun and games for everyone culminating with a fireworks display. We are still in the planning stages but are excited to put on this event for the City of Rockdale. Admission will be free. So if are planning on being in town, come join us for an afternoon and evening of fun.

For those of you who like to shoot off your own fireworks, don’t forget about Apache Pass. They have opened up their grounds for families to come out and enjoy the day. janicemking@sbcglobal.net
