Annual Baylor supporters spring banquet set May 1


Davis Davis TEMPLE—The Central Texas Baylor supporters will have their annual Spring Banquet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Temple, spokesperson Pam Dial Taylor announced.

New co-presidents for this year are Carol and Billy Mills, formerly a coach at Baylor. Sue Steakley, former president and long-time supporter of Baylor, is chairman of the event.

Tickets for the banquet are $40 and reservations may be made online at the Baylor Alumni Network www.baylor.edu/network (click on Register for an Event, and then click CTBC Spring Dinner). Call 866-281-9444 and pay at the door.

Deadline for reservations is Monday, April 28.

Guest speaker is Dr. Elizabeth Davis, Executive Vice President and Baylor’s Provost, and recently president elect of Furman University. For over 20 years at Baylor, she has overseen the university’s eleven schools and colleges and is the first woman to serve as Provost in Baylor’s history. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Baylor and her Ph. D. from Duke University.

Distinguished professor of accounting, she is the author of over a dozen books and several textbooks and has received numerous teaching awards.

Entertainment will be provided by students from the Theater Arts Department, directed by Melissa Johnson.

Silent and live auctions will be held and there will be an opportunity to purchase VIP tickets for a tour of the Simpson Athletic Center at Baylor to be held at 1:30 p.m. on May 17, prior to the Baylor-TCU baseball game.
