Halliburton coming to Milam County
CAMERON—Halliburton, one of the world’ largest providers of products and services to the energy industry, is coming to Milam County.
Susie McMichael, media contact for the giant company, said Halliburton has announced plans for a drilling, testing and training facility near Cameron. Full Story
Vendors’ Day ahead May 1st
Halliburton, which is constructing a drilling and testing facility near Cameron, and Iron Horse Ranch, which will provide lodging facilities, have scheduled a Vendors’ Day May 1 at the Cameron Chamber of Commerce.

Burglary, drug arrests made
Police made one arrest on a “several months old” burglary charge during the past week and also made a drug arrest as the result of a traffic stop.
Carson Morales, 18, of Rockdale, was charged Thursday with burglary of a habitation in connection with an incident at a Third Street house several months ago in which an air conditioner was taken, according to Lt. J. D. Newlin. Full Story

Bicyclist recovering after crash
A 50-year-old Rockdale man is recovering after serious injuries sustained earlier this month in a pickup-bicycle crash north of Rockdale.
In a May 4 crash report, not previously available from the Department of Public Safety, Trooper Ernest DelBosque said James Booker was injured when his bicycle was struck by a 2012 Dodge Ram pickup operated by Carlos Anderson, 48, of La Grange. Full Story
Illegal dumping calls for deputies
Milam County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a pair of illegal dumping complaints over the week.
An April 16 call sent deputies to FM 487 while another illegal dumping call was reported in the Cameron area on Thursday.
There were also two more scam reports during the past week, April 15 east of Cameron on FM 485 and Thursday on County Road 448. Full Story

Storage break-ins net indictments
CAMERON—Two Rockdale residents were indicted Thursday by a Milam County Grand Jury in connection with break-ins at a Rockdale storage unit facility last month.
Alisah Marie Sorrells, 28, and 19-year-old Steven Rivera, were indicted for engaging in organized criminal activity.
That charge implies three or more persons were involved in an illegal activity. Full Story
