FFA banquet honors students, supporters
Rockdale High School’s Future Farmers of Americal chapter held its annual end of the year banquet on April 29, handing out awards and recognitions.
Chapter president Justin Offield served as master of ceremonies.
Entertainment was provided by senior member Emily McCoy who won the district talent contest and will compete at area on May 16. Full Story

Locals place at district
Nine Milam County 4-Hers competed in the District 8 Livestock Judging Contest in College Station recently. Congratulations to the team members and their coaches.
In the junior division, the team of Ryland Kirk, Taije Schroeder, Trew Schroeder and Jistol Walzel placed second. The team of Kevin Junek, Garrett Reed and Trayle Shroeder placed third. Full Story

Annual forage field day set next week
The 28th annual O.D. Butler Field Day is scheduled for Friday, May 16. The Field Day will be held at and around the sale pavilion at the Camp Cooley Ranch Division of Circle X Ranch. The ranch is located north of US Highway 79 and east of Franklin. Participants can receive up to 3 CEU’s. Full Story

Rockdale FFA selling chances on coolers
Rockdale FFA is selling tickets for three different prizes and only 500 tickets will be sold. Tickets are $10 each or six for $50.
Prizes include: 65- quar t Yeti Tundra (valued at $399), 45-quart Yeti Tundra, (valued at $349) and 20-quart Yeti Roadie (valued at $249). Full Story

And red. And pink, green, gray, purple, just about any color you could name was on hand Friday as Rockdale Elementary School staged its annual Field Day at Tiger Field and on the school campus. The day began at the football field with an Olympic-style parade of nations— uh, classes—that featured pomp and pageantry, including the stirring and well-remembered Olympic Anthem. Full Story
