Locals place at district

Nine Milam County 4-Hers competed in the District 8 Livestock Judging Contest in College Station recently. Congratulations to the team members and their coaches.

In the junior division, the team of Ryland Kirk, Taije Schroeder, Trew Schroeder and Jistol Walzel placed second. The team of Kevin Junek, Garrett Reed and Trayle Shroeder placed third.

Individually, Milam participants placed: Garrett Reed, fifth; Ryland Kirk, sixth, Taije Schroeder, eighth; Jistol Walzel, 10th; Trayle Schroeder 14th; Kevin Junek, 17th; Trew Schroeder, 18th.

In the intermediate division, Mason Fisher placed 15th and Brock Gage 43rd.

GIVE-A-WAY—Milam County 4-Hers are conducting their annual fund raiser to provide funding for local programming.

The tickets are $5 each or five for $20. When you purchase a ticket, you will have a chance to win one of the following items: $500 Visa gift card; $500 Visa gift card; $300 Visa gift card; $200 Visa gift card; $200 Visa gift card; Horseshoe Cross and metal block Texas A&M sign.

Tickets are available from any 4-Her or at the Milam County Extension Office, 100 E. 1st Street in Cameron. The drawing will be June 23.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
