‘Olympic’ gold

And red. And pink, green, gray, purple, just about any color you could name was on hand Friday as Rockdale Elementary School staged its annual Field Day at Tiger Field and on the school campus. The day began at the football field with an Olympic-style parade of nations— uh, classes—that featured pomp and pageantry, including the stirring and well-remembered Olympic Anthem. Then it was on to the events, which included such non traditional competition as the overhead ball toss (middle right) and more traditional track events. Guess what they’re going at lower right? It’s actually a relay handoff exchange, just like the big kids, only a lot cuter. Also see page 1A.
