Health department topic of workshop
CAMERON—Milam County Commissioners met in workshop session Thursday to discuss how involved the commissioners court should be in the Milam County Health Department.
Discussion centered on the department’s acquisition and use of state grants, including paying salaries with some.

Arrest made in unique burglary at church office
A 24-year-old Rockdale man was arrested Saturday and charged with theft of a firearm in connection with a break-in overnight April 26 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Lawrence Gonzales remains in custody on $10,000 bond.
The only item taken in the unique, for a church, incident was a shotgun. Full Story
Fugitive sought by sheriff
A 28-year-old man investigators say ran from the site of a burglary on County Road 112 last week is still at large.
Chief Deputy Chris White said Travis Blake Curry is believed to have entered a residence April 28 then fled after leaving most of his clothes inside the dwelling. Full Story

Lock cars; keep an eye out!
Rockdale police are warning the public to lock their cars and keep an eye out for suspicious night-time activity after a rash of auto burglaries early this week.
“We started out with three over the weekend and then we had four more reported overnight Monday,” Lt. J. D. Newlin said. Full Story
Tourism committee waits to see council’s decision
The City of Rockdale Tourism Committee met Tuesday and reflected a “wait and see” attitude on whether it will continue its existence.
The joint Chamber of Commerce-Municipal Development District proposal to hire a permanent tourism director currently recommends the committee be dissolved. Full Story

Milam County Retired Teachers Association met with their Williamson County counterparts in the Thorndale ISD board room to visit with House District 20 Representative Marsha Farney on April 24.
