CHAMBER CHAT

Summer is on the way
Janice King
Chamber of Commerce Board Chair

I t won’t be long before we are turning on the fans and wishing for cooler weather. The Chamber is accepting donations for the fan drive. If you, your business or your organization would like to donate either fans or money, please contact the Chamber.

We have already received our first donation from St. Joseph’s Ladies Society of $200. A big “thank you” goes out to the Ladies of St. Joseph. The fan drive is fully supported by your donations. If you are in need of a fan, please contact the Chamber. The date has not been set for distribution, but we will be glad to put you on the list and contact you when a fan is available.

ICE CREAM SOCIAL— You still have a couple of opportunities to get in on the Ice Cream Social out at Hunter’s Chase Senior Living facility. Go out and take a tour of the facility and enjoy some ice cream. It is 1-4 p.m. every Friday in May.

WALMART/CMN CARNIVAL—There is a big event coming up 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 24. Walmart is putting on a happening to support the Children’s Miracle Network. There will be food, a cake walk, a pencil pull, fishing, a dunking booth and lots of fun things for the kids to do. And did I mention food— popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones, hot dogs, just to name a few. It is going to be kind of like a mini-carnival.

There will also be two live bands to keep everyone entertained. If you are interested in volunteering your time and talents, please contact the Chamber. This is such a worthy cause. We all benefit when we do something good for someone else.

MEMORIAL DAY— Looking forward to Memorial Day. There will be a Memorial Ceremony at 10 a.m. at the American Legion’s new building. This is a very moving ceremony where names are called of all who gave their lives in service for our country. What an awesome way to remember the fallen.

The Chamber is always looking for new ways to support our members. If you have suggestions and would like to get involved, contact the Chamber (512- 446-2030). Have a super week. janicemking@sbcglobal.net
