Eight cases disposed of in district court
CAMERON—Eight cases were disposed June 2 through June 13 in 20th District Court, according to Prosecutor Bill Torrey, who listed case dispositions as follows:
• Chelsea Marie Stambaugh, 20, Cedar Park, pleaded “true” to probation revocation motion on an original charge of assault of public servant, two-year prison term. Full Story
Seven felony arrests for police this week
Rockdale police made seven felony arrests during the last week, including two for an organized assault.
Lt. J. D. Newlin said Ofc. Sterling Shepperd arrested Yusef Jamal Walton, 32, on June 11 and Amanda Nicole Dodds, 27 on Thursday. They are both from Rockdale. Full Story
Still no identification on found remains
There is still no positive identification of human remains found in northwest Milam County, according to sheriff’s department chief deputy Chris White.
“We are still waiting on the medical examiner report. They could not get dental records to compare, so they are trying other routes,” he said. Full Story
Dixie Whitmore, of Rockdale, was bestowed an honorary lifetime membership to the Texas Firemen’s Auxiliary (TFA) on June 9 at the State Texas Firemen’s Auxiliary and State Fire Marshals Convention in Lubbock. Whitmore retired from her postion as chaplain of the state organization last year, having served 21 years at that post. Full Story

Annual Thorndale barbecue cookoff ahead June 27-29

The 24th annual Thorndale Barbecue Cookoff will unreel June 27-29 with cooking, dances, a softball tourney, arts and crafts and more.

‘New’ Worley Bridge dedication Sunday
103-year-old bridge will reopen to light traffic
Sunday will mark another victory in historic preservation in Milam County when the 103-year-old Worley Bridge spanning the San Gabriel River on County Road 428 officially reopens to traffic.
The event will be marked with a short ceremony sponsored by the Milam County Historical Commission, according to an announcement by Johnnielyn Brown, the group’s chair. Full Story

Not yet, but annexing the northern part of Texas Street could become an option for the City of Rockdale. Milam County commissioners have passed a resolution stating they would not object if the part of Texas now in the county were annexed by Rockdale to provide a “back way” into H. H.
