GETTING THE GRAPES—

The Bordeaux region of France? California’s Napa Valley? How about just north of Rockdale. Seventy members of the Georgetown Winery Wine Club gathered Sunday morning to pick about four tons of Black Spanish grapes in the Marek Vineyard. The winery is owned by former Rockdale residents Dan Jr. and Becca Marek. About seven tons of several varieties of grapes are heading from the local vineyard to the winery. Sixty-five wine club members rode a charter bus for the occasion and were even serenaded by a club member guitarist, who picked as they picked.
