Walker recept ion Aug. 29th

County agent served 32 years

A reception for retiring County Extension Agent Cheryl Walker, who is winding up a 32-year career, including the last 12 in Milam County, is set for Aug. 29.

Hours are 2-4 p.m. at the Cameron Chamber of Commerce meeting room, 102 East First.

Walker has served as the Milam County Extension Agent for the Family and Consumer Sciences.

She coordinated and provided countless programs for a very active Milam County 4-H program; in addition, she conducted Extension Education Club programs and activities, Diabetes and Canning programs, and other healthy lifestyle programs.

She became the Extension Agent in Milam County after her sister, Chris Holcombe, retired in September 2001.

“Cheryl has continued the success and pride which has been a tradition in Milam County,” office staffer Marcia Felton said. “The Extension program will miss Cheryl for her dedication and willingness to help the citizens and youth of Milam County.”
