Milano Opry Saturday in MHS cafetorium

MILANO—The Milano Opry will hit the stage on Saturday, Aug. 16 at Milano High School. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7.

“Come early and eat a hamburger or barbecue sandwich and a piece of homemade pie,” said Lynn Martin, publicist.

Guest performers will be Minnie and Ella Jordan, Steve Nelson, Steve Leal and Bobby Mikulin. House band members are Billy Barnett on steel, Michael Wall on drums, Gary Beard on fiddle, Leal on bass, Nelson on keyboards and Mikulin on guitar.

“Come enjoy ‘a big show In a small town’ and help us give scholarships to local graduates,” Martin said.

Genealogy society’s next meeting set August 26

Milam County Genealogical Society’s next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26 in the conference room at the rear entrance of Citizens National Bank in Rockdale. Randy Billingsley is in charge of the program.

Refreshments will be provided by those whose last names begin with P through Z. Linda Whorton will provide ice, drinks and paper goods. Visitors are welcome.

Fedor Fish Fry set Saturday, August 23

The annual Fedor Fish Fry will be held Saturday, Aug. 23 in Fedor on FM 1624. Serving will start at 5 p.m., according to Judy Brown, spolkesperson.

“There will be a country store, live auction and fun and games for the kids,” Brown said.

Murray Cemetery Assn. annual meeting Sept. 20

Murray Cemetery Association will hold its10th annual meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, in the Community Room of the Rockdale General Store, 1201 W. Hwy 79.

A covered dish luncheon will follow the meeting. Attendees are asked to bring a favorite dish. Ice teas, coffee, water, bread, ice, plates, cups and utensils will be furnished.

MS Rally for the Walk set at Nat’s on Sept. 6

MILANO—Kristi’s Krusaders will hold their fifth annual MS Rally for the Walk bike run on Saturday, Sept. 6 at Nat’s in Milano, according to organizer Kristi Bode. Registration will open at 9 a.m. with first bike out 11 a.m., last bike in at 5 p.m.

Ride fee is $20 for rider ($25 with passenger) and includes a meal after the ride.

Stops and sponsors are Burn Out in Somerville, Cyndi’s in Hogg, The Ranch in Rockdale and Nat’s in Milano.

Barbecue plates, $8 each, will be sold to the public starting at noon. A live auction will begin at 5 p.m. The group will also have a bike show and award plaques for oldest rider, oldest bike and longest traveled. Music will follow the live auction.

Grief support meetings
