Genealogy society

Milam County Genealogical Society’s next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26 in the conference room at the rear entrance of Citizens National Bank in Rockdale. Randy Billingsley is in charge of the program.

Refreshments will be provided by those whose last names begin with P through Z. Linda Whorton will provide ice, drinks and paper goods. Visitors are welcome.

Fedor Fish Fry Saturday

The annual Fedor Fish Fry will be held Saturday, Aug. 23 in Fedor on FM 1624. Serving will start at 5 p.m., according to Judy Brown, salesperson.

“There will be a country store, live auction and fun and games for the kids,” Brown said.

VFW C-F steak meal

THORNDALE¬≠— VFW post 4009 and Auxiliary will sponsor as chicken-fried steak meal Sunday, Sept. 7 at the VFW post home on FM 486 North.

Proceeds will go to VFW and Auxiliary projects, scholarships and building repairs.

Menu will be chicken-fried steak, mashed potatoes, green beans white gravy and the trimmings. Serving will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. (dine-in or take-out). Price is $9 per plate. Desserts available for a freewill offering.

Murray Cemetery Assn.

Murray Cemetery Association will hold its 10th annual meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, in the Community Room of the Rockdale General Store, 1201 W. Hwy 79.

A covered-dish luncheon will follow the meeting. Attendees are asked to bring a favorite dish. Ice teas, coffee, water, bread, ice, plates, cups and utensils will be furnished.

MS Rally for the Walk

MILANO— Kristi’s Krusaders will hold their fifth annual MS Rally for the Walk bike run on Saturday, Sept. 6 at Nat’s in Milano, according to organizer Kristi Bode. Registration will open at 9 a.m. with first bike out 11 a.m., last bike in at 5 p.m.

Ride fee is $20 for rider ($25 with passenger) and includes a meal after the ride.

Stops and sponsors are Burn Out in Somerville, Cyndi’s in Hogg, The Ranch in Rockdale and Nat’s in Milano.

Barbecue plates, $8 each, will be sold to the public starting at noon. A live auction will begin at 5 p.m. The group will also have a bike show and award plaques for oldest rider, oldest bike and longest traveled. Music will follow the live auction.

Rockdale Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 6525 Cookbooks are for sale. The 3-ring binder cookbook would make an ideal gift or addition to any cookbook collection and are $18 each.

Grief support meetings
