LIBRARY NOTES
By MELANIE TODD
City Librarian

Join us for the Summer Reading Finale, On Your Mark, Get “ Set, Read!” at the Rockdale I&GN Depot Museum on Thursday, at 10:30 a.m.

Everyone will be able to play games and tour the 106 year old depot building, restored Missouri-Pacific caboose and dining car and the depot’s blacksmith shop.

Volunteers from the Rockdale Historical Society, who restored the former International & Great Northern Depot as a museum, will be on hand to serve as tour guides.

COFFEE—Happiness is a cup of coffee and a good book. Join us for coffee at the Library on Friday, July 1, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

The library has coffee the first Friday of every month.

INVITATION—Come see what’s available at the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library .

Choose from thousands of books to read. Use a computer and hook up to the Internet.

Meet up with friends. Relax and have fun. Libraries today are more than warehouses for books.

Instead, libraries and librarians are change agents within their communities— transforming lives through innovative educational resources and forward-thinking programming.

Libraries are doing their part to close the digital divide and level the playing field by providing free access to information and technologies that many in their communities would be hard pressed to find elsewhere.

Libraries help to ensure the American dream and promote democracy by providing service to all.

The library has always been a place of unlimited possibilities.

Whatever your interest or need, the library and the library staff are here to provide you the resources you need to accomplish your goals and dreams.

HOURS—Library hours:

• Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 8 to 5:30.

• Thursday, 9 to 7:30.

• Saturday 9 to 2:00.

Rockdale’s library is closed, Sunday and Monday.
