Brooks Bassler has come a long way since sleeping in the back booth of his first restaurant in Houston, working 20-hour days trying to get a foot in the door of one of the most competitive food cities in the world.

FIFTY YEARS HENCE, PART 3
My 41-year teaching career began during the second semester of the school year of 1943-44.
I was not really prepared in a way, and then again, I guess it was really a spirit of fear. I had only completed 2-1/2 years of college work and began teaching on a two-year certificate.
My entire school years prior to my college training had been at this school. Full Story

Mardi Gras bash coming up Feb. 25th in Cameron
Event features gun draw, auction
Organizers of this year’s Mardi Gras bash have announced some of this year’s auction items which include an aerial tour of Cameron in a Cessna 182, donated by Ranspot-Cobb flying service. Other items include a prime rib dinner for 15 donated by Jerry and Agnes Kostroun, a Spider-Man V6 power wheels toy and a box of Black Label Cigars worth $250 donated by Stephanie Varga. Full Story
There was a great turnout for the Valentine Banquet and silent auction that was held at Gause Baptist Church Family Life Center Saturday evening. Thanks to all who had a part in the success.
