Milano VFD chili supper set Saturday with music, auctions
MILANO— Members of the Milano Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a chili supper on Saturday, Feb. 18, with a live band and live and silent auctions.
Serving will begin at 4:30 p.m. and continue until “sold out” and chili will be available for dine-in or take-out.
All proceeds will benefit the Milano VFD. Prices are $8 for adults, $4 for children age 12 and under, and free for ages 2 and under. Prices includes dessert and drink.
LAGC members create personal greeting cards
Linwood Acres Garden Club members designed and created personal greeting cards at their monthly meeting Wednesday, Feb. 8 at the Rockdale General Store, according to publicist Joy Reagan.
Members also discussed plans for the club’s annual community wide plant exchange at the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce parking lot on Saturday, March 25. Non-members are encouraged to participate by donating extra plants from around their homes, and all plants are free of charge.
Next meeting of the club will be at Hogan-Hall Building at the Chamber of Commerce with Dolores Rumpf of Austin designing arrangements using fruits and vegetables, Reagan said.
Black Jack VFD sets fund-raiser Feb. 25
Black Jack Volunteer Fire Department members will hold their annual fund-raiser on Saturday, Feb. 25.
A chili supper and auction will begin at 5 p.m. Raffle tickets are currently available by calling 446-2432.
Chicken-fried steak fund-raiser set Feb. 26
THORNDALE—Thorndale VFW Post 4009 will serve up a chicken fried steak luncheon on Sunday, Feb. 26 at the VFW Hall on North FM 486.
Serving will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., dine-in or to-go. The meal will include steak, gravy, green beans, potatoes, bread and tea. Desserts will be available for a free will donation.
“Please come support your local veterans in their effort to help the community and support the youth with scholarships,” said Marjorie Menzel, spokesperson.
Arts & Service League rummage sale March 4
CAMERON— Members of the Cameron Arts & Service League will hold a rummage sale fund-raiser on Saturday March 4 at Bea’s Kitchen, 101 East Main Street, Cameron.
“Proceeds will go for local service and scholarships,” said Lynne Hornung, publicist.
Annual salty cemetery meeting set March 6
The Salty Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, March 6 in the Salty Church Annex, according to Dana Caffey, spokesperson.
“All persons with loved ones buried at the cemetery or who have an interest in the cemetery are urged to attend,” she said.
Master Gardeners set plant sale March 18
CAMERON—Little River Basin Master Gardeners will hold their Spring Plant Sale on Saturday, March 18 at the Milam County Youth Expo Building in Cameron.
Browsers will be able to choose from hundreds of plants: annuals, perennials, vegetable plants, herbs, roses, small shrubs and trees and hanging baskets.
Master Gardeners will be on hand to help with choices and make recommendations.
LRBMG will also hold a raffle. Tickets will be available from the Milam County AgriLife Extension Office or any Master Gardener for $1 each or 6 for $5. Drawing will be at the close of the sale, but presence is not necessary to win. Raffle items include plants, gardening tools and supplies, paintings, a quilt, baskets of homemade delicacies, garden/ yard art and more.
