Tigers close out season with a pair of setbacks
Academy, Rogers end hoop season
The Rockdale Tigers’ season came to a close with a pair of losses to Academy and Rogers.
The Tigers finish the season 6-22 overall and 1-13 in District 20-3A.
No. 3 Jarrell (26-3) was the District 20-3A champion.
Rockdale lost to Academy 54-50 Tuesday night at home.
Cameron Mireles paced the Tigers with 14 points, followed by Blake King’s 12. Full Story
Lady Dogs pick off victory

Iola grounds Lady Eagles
BRYAN—The Milano Lady Eagles fell to Iola 68-34 on Tuesday night in the Class 2A, Region IV, bi-district round of the state playoffs at The Armory at Bryan’s Rudder High School.
Iola, the second place team from District 26-2A, moves on to play Mason in the area round later this week. Full Story
Tiger netters focus on team
The Tiger tennis team traveled to Georgetown for their first tournament of the season with a new goal in mind.
For the first time in years, the Tiger netters will participate in team tennis.
It’s a fortuitous move for the Tigers, because the team is returning a bevy of experience including several seniors. Full Story

With the regular season completed, both Thorndale and Milano are ready to mix it up in the state playoffs.
Aiming for their second consecutive trip to the state tournament, the Bulldogs take on either Normangee (10-13) or North Zulch (5-14) in bi-district. Full Story
1976 champions to be recognized March 3
The Rockdale Athletic Department is issuing an invitation to members of the RHS 1976 state football, and 1977 state track, champs to be recognized.
Those two teams will be honored at the Rockdale Relays on Friday, March 3, and again at the Rockdale Country Club the next day, according to Denise Betchan, athletic secretary. Full Story

Franklin signs with national champs UHMB
David Franklin, senior at Rockdale High School, signed a letter of intent to play football with the University of Mary Hardin- Baylor on Wednesday.
Franklin was a two-year starter at quarterback for the Tigers and was first-team all-district.
The Crusaders are the reigning Division III national champions in football. Full Story
