It took an hour and a half for the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, and other volunteers, to put out thousands of Easter Eggs Friday morning at Fair Park.

And about 90 seconds for excited youngsters, with a ton of help, to pick them up.

The annual Community Easter Egg Hunt was one of largest ever with cool weather and a lush green park drawing enthusiastic families.

And it was free.

This year’s hunt was co-sponsored by the Rockdale ISD iTigers, Renaissance Villa, Kindred Hospice, Corona’s Mexican Restaurant, and Tractor Supply. Aaron’s Rentals sent its Lucky Dog mascot.

Hunters were separated by age divisions.

There were also other activities throughout the morning at the park.

The Easter Bunny made an appearance and was immediately mobbed by families for greetings and photos.

It takes a lot of skill and technique to maneuver through the crowd (L) but it all pays off when your baskets look like these. It takes a lot of skill and technique to maneuver through the crowd (L) but it all pays off when your baskets look like these.

Some of the egg-hunters in the smallest division needed a little help as they take off at Fair Park on a perfect Good Friday morning. Some of the egg-hunters in the smallest division needed a little help as they take off at Fair Park on a perfect Good Friday morning.
