Reporter correspondent

Milano ISD will host the fifth annual academic scholarship golf tournament on Saturday at Rockdale Country Club. A shotgun start will begin at 8 a.m. in the four-person scramble.

All proceeds are awarded as scholarships to Milano High School seniors. In the past four tournaments, almost $40,000 have been raised and given to graduating seniors.

Cost is $300 per team or $75 for individuals. Entry fee includes two mulligans and one move up. The event is limited for the first 18 teams.

Breakfast and a light lunch will be provided. Hole sponsorships are available for $120. Top prizes will be awarded for first through third place teams, longest drive, closest to the pin and hole in one. More information can be found at or 512-455-9311.

HOOPS CAMP—Milano Hoops Camp will be held for boys and girls grades headed into first through eighth grades on May 30-31. Cost is $20 per camper.

First through third graders will meet from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the Milano Elementary Gym, followed by fourth and fifth graders from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The sixth through eighth grade campers will meet from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the high school gym. Coach Alvie King will be running this camp.

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION— Milano Elementary is still collecting Box Tops for Education. Be sure to send those in with your favorite student and help the school reach 15,000 box tops this school year. Last day to turn in Box Tops for this school year is Friday.

MRS. MYERS—I normally do not post in this space about the loss of our community members, namely because I would hate to leave someone out. But this week my heart was just so sad to hear of the passing of Mrs. Eddie Mae Myers. She was such a wonderful and kind soul. She meant so much to so very many in Milano. Her sweet smile is lighting up Heaven now—I am sure of it.
