Knights of Columbus Fall Fest slated Sunday

The Rockdale Knights of Columbus Council 7014 will hold its annual Fall Fest Sunday at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

Fried chicken dinner will start serving at 11 a.m. Tickets are $10 per plate take out or eat in. There will be an auction and fund-raising tickets will be on sale. All proceeds for the event go to continued hall renovations and charity contributions.

United Way Radiothon scheduled for Thursday

The annual South Milam County United Way radiothon will be held from 8 a.m to 12-noon Thursday at Lee’s Landing.

Town Hall annexation meeting set Sept. 21st

The City of Rockdale will host a town hall session on annexation at 6 p.m . Thursday, Sept. 21 in the city library.

City Manager Chris Whitaker said public input will be sought on the city’s plans for expanding the city limits.

“Help us prioritize our ideas, either in writing or verbally,” he said.

Light refreshments will be served.

Cheer mini-camp set Thursday in RHS gyms

A mini-cheer camp for grades pre-K through fifth grade is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 21 in the high school gyms.

Doors open at 5:30 for registration. Cost is $25 per child and checks are payable to “RHS Varsity Cheer.”

Cost includes a snack, drink and spirit item.

Children will cheer during the first quarter when RHS hosts McGregor Oct. 27.

‘Lilies of the Field’ next for community theater

Auditions for “Lilies of the Field,” next presentation of the Milam Community Theater,” will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday at the Williams Civic Center in Cameron.

Monica Schiller, spokesperson, said there are four male and five female roles.

“Lilies of the Field” will be staged Nov. 4, 5, 11 and 12 at the civic center.

HOT Funds topic for Workforce Solutions

Workforce Solutions of Central Texas-Rockdale will host an informational meeting on municipal hotel occupancy tax (HOT) funds at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26.

Brian Sullivan, associate general counsel of Texas Hotel and Lodging will conduct the seminar.

Topics to be covered include:

• Who can use these funds?

• What can the money be used for?

• How and when can someone apply for HOT funds?

• What is the process for application?

RHS hosting area FFA meeting on Tuesday

The Rockdale High School FFA chapter will host the Area 12 FFA meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 19) in the RHS Auditorium.

It’s the first-ever new Area 12 meeting. Milam County FFA chapter has recently moved into Area 12 from Area 3. Area 12 has 70 chapters from Milam, Bell, Brazos, Falls, McLennan, Robertson, Travis and Williamson Counties.

Save Old City Hall continues to meet

Save the Old City Hall (STOCH) continues to meet and gain support.

STOCH’s mission is to “preserve and restore the Old City Hall to its original exterior construction, without using or raising taxes,” according to Annette Griesbach, spokesperson.

STOCH has also met with the Chamber of Commerce and will meet with the Rockdale Municipal Development District Sept. 25.

Next monthly STOCH meeting is Oct. 16, at the Community Room on North Main St.
