Yearly Minerva center meeting set Tuesday

The annual Minerva Community Center meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19 at the center, located at 378 CR 232 Loop.

The agenda will include the election of a new trustee, reports on repairs and plans for the annual cleanup.

Annual Minerva homecoming Oct. 1

The 56th annual Minerva Meet Your Neighbor and Homecoming will be held at noon Sunday, Oct. 1 at noon at the Minerva Community Center, 378 CR 232 Loop.

Prior to the noon meal, the Minerva-Midway Cemetery Board will conduct a brief annual business meeting.

“Come fellowship with your neighbors and friends in Minerva. Bring your family and friends and enjoy visiting along with a covered dish lunch. And bring photos and memories,” said Deborah Dean, publicist.

Golden Girls to hold Mini Camp Sept. 30

The RHS Golden Girls annual Mini-Camp for all girls ages 3 through sixth grade will be held from 9 until 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept 30 in the Rockdale Elementary School gymnasium.

Cost is $25 ($15 per additional sibling). T-shirt is included and will be ordered at the end of camp.

Participants will learn routines with their age groups, participate in pre-game and sit with the Golden Girls through the first quarter at the homecoming game Oct. 13.

Annual homecoming set at Hanover Sept. 24

Hanover community will hold its annual Homecoming Reunion Picnic Sunday, Sept. 24 at the Community Building located at FM 2095 and FM 3242.

A covered dish meal will start at noon. All are invited.

Murray Cemetery meeting set Saturday

Murray Cemetery Association will hold its 13th annual meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16 in the community room in Rockdale General Store, 1201 W. Hwy 79.

A covered dish luncheon will follow the meeting. Bring a favorite dish. Ice tea, coffee, water, bread, ice, plates, cups and utensils will be furnished

Gospel band Saturday at Milano Senior Center

MILANO—The Wallace Family Gospel Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16 at the Milano Senior/Civic Center, with proceeds to benefit the Senior Center building fund.

Chicken fried steak meal set Sept. 24

THORNDALE—VFW Auxiliary Post 4009 will hold a chicken fried steak meal Sunday, Sept. 24, at the VFW Hall on FM 486 north, serving from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., dine-at or to-go.

The menu will include steak, gravy, green beans, potatoes, bread and tea for $10. Desserts will be available for a donation.

Davilla Center sets Fall Fest on October 7

Davilla Community Center will host a Fall Fest on Saturday, Oct. 7 from 6 to 10 p.m. as a fund-raiser for needed repairs on the center, 20803 N. FM 487.

Games include a ring toss, fish pond, cake walk, apple bobbing, face painting, hayride, bounce house, petting zoo and duck pond. Food will include sausage wraps, pulled pork sandwiches, chips, drinks, pie, brownies, cupcakes and cookies.

Prizes in a silent auction and raffle include a handmade American flag afghan, handmade wooden toy box, 2 baskets from the Gift Emporium, twelve $25 gift cards from a variety of businesses, and more, according to Barbara Tatum, spokesperson.
