Thanksgiving service scheduled for Nov. 14

Rockdale Christian Church, 1406 Sager, will be the site for the annual Community Thanksgiving Service at 7 p.m. Nov. 14./

Rev. Ken Ansell, spokesman, said three pastors will share short devotions.

They are: Mike Zapata, Newfound Life; Lance Walch, Forest Grove Christian; and Harry Stevenson, of the host church.

A community choir will provide special music and a light meal will follow. “Please bring your favorite snack-type item or dessert,” Rev. Ansell said.

‘Steak-Tober Fest’ set to sizzle on Saturday

CAMERON—Downtown Cameron is the site for a “Steak-Tober Fest” in Cameron Saturday including music, history talks and a steak dinner.

Activities get underway at 10 a.m. Speakers include: Randy Billingsley, Tales of Texas History; Judge Ed Magre, “Crazy Horse: A Sketch”; Steve Young, “History of San Andres Lodge”; Sergio and Melinda Iruegas, “Rancheria Grande Discovery”; Cardinal Oak Hill Farm, “Mushroom Log Inoculation Demonstration.”

There will be tours of the Museum District, including the courthouse, jail and museum.

Music will include Bob Yates, Casey Stanislaw & Friends, Milton Wright & Arthur Zarosky, Nestor Rios & Combo and more.

There will be a steak cookoff, 44 Farms steak dinner, wines, artisans and more.

POSGCD sets public hearings for Nov. 7th

MILANO—The Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District (POSGCD) will hold two public hearings, then take actions during a 5:30 p.m. Nov. 7 regular session at the water district’s headquarters, 310 East Avenue C (US 77/190-Texas 36.

Directors will seek public comment on the POSGCD’s 2018 budget.

A separate hearing will focus on the district’s production and transport fees and fee schedules.

Currently the production fee is $.01 per 1,000 gallons and the transport fee is $.075 per 1,000 gallons, assessed on permitted amounts.

A copy of the fee schedule, dated Nov. 11, 2016, can be accessed at the district website www.posgcd.org, by mail at POSGCD, PO Bx 92., Milano, TX 76556, by fax at 512-455-9909 or by emailing admin@posgcd. org.

Action on both matters is anticipated following the hearings.

Interested persons are invited to attend and provide public comments.

THORNDALE—Cash donations to Thorndale Cares Christmas drive in that community, may now be made at Prosperity Bank in Thorndale, according to Melvin Hirt, spokesman for the annual effort.
