US 79 Good Samaritans thanked for herding bull

Dear editor,

I would like to publicly thank Markia Winkler of Thorndale.

She used her truck to guide a big black 1,800-2,000-pound bull off US 79 west of Rockdale one morning last week by the IBEW Union Hall.

Everyone else kept driving, 70-80, miles per hour only a few feet away, too busy to stop and help.

I bet if Mr. Black Bull would have head butted someone’s car or truck, or landed on their hood doing that speed, they would have had a change of heart.

People could have lost their lives if bull would have darted back out on the highway but Mrs. Winkler wasn’t having it.

I also want to thank Precinct 4 Constable Micheal Moehling for helping us corral the bull down to a pasture for safe keeping till the owner was found.

I really could not believe the way people were driving with this massive bull on the highway right of way in broad daylight.

Thank you Good Samaritans.

Together as a team we took time to prevent a wreck, saved the bull’s life and possibly saved someone’s life.
