Three treated after 487 accident Monday morning

Three persons were taken to Baylor Scott & White Hospital, Temple, after a two-vehicle crash Monday morning just south of the Rockdale city limits/.

State Trooper Broderick Sims said both drivers—44-year-old J. C. Washington if Lexington and Corey Davis, 19, of Cameron— were injured as was Dave Jones, a passenger in the Washington vehicle.

Location was FM 487 (Wilcox Street) just south of the Beverly Drive intersection.

Time was listed as 11:45 a.m. Damages were listed as major. The Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the accident scene.

Free fruits, vegetable distribution set Thursday

The next free fruit and vegetable distribution by the Central Texas Food Bank food truck is for 10:30 to 11:30 p.m. Thursday in the KC Hall parking lot.

It is held the first Thursday of each month.

On the third Thursday of the month the Mobile Food Pantry visits the same location with free food of all kinds.

Those events are held from 9 to 11 a.m.

Bloodmobile visit ahead Dec. 17th at Saint Paul’s

THORNDALE—A Scott & White Bloodmobile will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church and School in Thorndale from 8 a.m. to 12-noon Sunday, Dec. 17.

December donors receive a long-sleeve shirt and a “mystery goodie bag.”

Tree of Angels slated Monday at museum

CAMERON—The 19th annual Tree of Angels, in support or memory of a victim of violent crime, is set for 6 p.m. Monday, at the Milam County Museum.

Members of the armed services and military will also be honored. Families are urged to attend and place angels on the tree in honor of their loved ones, Trish Vargas, coordinator, said.

Block of South Main will close for repairs Tuesday

Main Street between Cameron and Mill, including the Union Pacific railroad crossing will be closed between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday to facilitate Texas Dept. of Transportation repairs, according to City Manager Chris Whittaker.

Traffic will be routed around the closed area, he said.

Old Town Cameron sets holiday night Thursday

CAMERON—Old Town Cameron, incorporating the new Cameron Historic Railroad Museum is hosting nightly Christmas displays at 101 West Main on the courthouse square in Cameron.

It includes the 1940s recreation of a Cameron Christmas, a 15-foot Christmas tree, a “Fifth Avenue-style” store front window and a period appropriate steam trains puffing around the layout along with a Polar Express complete with bells, whistles and lighted passenger cars.

The display is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 to 4 and again 6 to 9 p.m. It will also host Santa, with hot chocolate, cookies and candy, after the Dec. 7 Cameron Christmas Parade.

Big Blue Band Christmas concert set Thursday

The annual free Rockdale ISD Bands Christmas Concert will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the RHS Auditorium.

Director Adrian Acevedo said those performing will include RJH Beginners Band, RJH Symphonic Band, RHS Jazz Band, RHS Big Blue Band and RHS Color Guard.

“The community is welcome to celebrate our students’ achievements and enjoy some joyful Christmas music,” he said.

Special needs group plans Christmas party

The Special Needs Support Group will host its annual Christmas Party from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, at the Patterson Civic Center.

That evening includes a catered meal, face painting and a magic show with Carlos the Magician.

Deadline Dec. 14th for Brown Santa names

Thursday, Dec. 14 is the deadline to submit names for the Milam County Sheriff’s Department’s annual Brown Santa program.

Brown Santa delivers toys to needy children.

Applicants, at the sheriff’s office, must bring a Medicare or WIC card with child’s name on it, a current utility bill, birth certificate or school-age children must have current report card and parent/ guardian must present a valid Texas ID.

New, unwrapped toy donations may be taken to the sheriff’s office in Cameron at any time. There’s a Brown Santa account at Classic Bank.

Delivery date for the Brown Santa program is Wednesday, Dec. 20.
