Roundup nomination deadline set for Friday

Friday is the deadline to nominate families and individuals to be served by 2017 Christmas Roundup.

Rockdale’s annual community drive to provide food and toys for the less fortunately turns 50 this year (see editorial, page 4A) and is looking for another huge volunteer-driven effort.

Last year Roundup served 300 families that included over 1,000 persons, many of them children.

This will be a somber Christmas for some. Luminant layoffs and will begin next month as the company, the Rockdale area’s largest employer, shuts down its Sandow Power Plant and Three Oaks Mine on Jan. 11.
