The 21st annual Community Outreach Thanksgiving Dinner was held on Saturday at First Baptist Church from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. serving over 900 plates.
When the event started it was first held at New Hope Baptist Church. The event was so wildly popular that a change of location was necessary and the dinner started being held at the First Baptist Church which had more room for guests and a bigger kitchen.
This annual event has always been a hit and is run like a well-oiled machine with volunteers and cooks doing everything they can to make the dinner a success.
According to organizer Pamela King, “We want to thank everyone for their help and donations. We really had to hunt for canned goods and carryout plates this year. The stores were receiving them but there was a limit on how many we could buy, but people came through with them and we are so thankful. The volunteers worked from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and we couldn’t do this without them!”
