Two-hundred thirty-six Milam County residents who went off to war but never came back, were honored Monday as the annual community Memorial Day ceremony was held in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6525 Hall.
A crowd of about 150 attended as names of wartime dead from World War I to the Global War on terror were read. Descendants, other relatives and friends answered the somber roll call.
PROGRAM—Music was provided by the Communities in Concert Band.
Taps was performed by band members Lee Thomason and Rob O’Dell.
Art Free delivered a veterans’s tribute and also gave the welcome.
Presentation, and retirement, of colors by by the Post Color Guard.
Invocation was by Tony Walko and Don Stewart led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Rita Johnson conducted a POW/MIA remembrance.
