Grass fires kept South Milam County volunteer fire department busy during the past week. The following were dispatched from the Rockdale Police Department:
• 4:22 p.m. Aug. 28, County Road 338, Rockdale and Milano VFDs.
• 5:26 p.m. Aug. 28, 2400 block of CR 320 with structures threatened.
• 11:58 p.m. Thursday, pasture fire, 4400 block of CR 342.
• 12:43 p.m. Thursday, Rockdale VFD responded as mutual aid for Milano VFD at pasture fire, 4400 block of CR 342.
• 2:45 p.m. Thursday, Rockdale VFD responded as mutual aid for fire in 8200 block of South FM 908.
• 2:46 p.m. Thursday, Cameron Police Department requested Milano VFD return to fire location for a rekindle. MVFD located a second fire consuming about half-an-acre.
• 2:13 a.m. Monday, Gause VFD responded to grass fire on CR 353, unable to locate.
• 1:21 p.m. Tuesday, Rockdale VFD dispatched to CR 442 for grass blaze and discovered series of small grass fi res.
Fire calls for the week not involving grass fires:
• 5:49 p.m. Aug. 28, structure fire, 4100 block of South FM 486, Thorn-dale VFD.
• 8:18 p.m. Aug. 29, Rockdale VFD responded to Hunter’s Chase Apartments, 1501 East Belton for report of water leaking into an apartment.
