A 30-year-old Hut-to man was arrested last Wednesday after a vehicle chase involving Rock-dale police.

Lt. Stephen Goodrich said Ofc. Joah McCaleb encountered a vehicle going 93 miles per hour on US 79 by Rockdale Intermediate School.

“Ofc. McCaleb turned around and attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver turned off the highway and went into the Oak Park subdivision,” Goodrich said.

Goodrich said police blocked off roads and were able to make the traffic stop.

Kevin Cortz was charged with evading arrest/detention with vehicle.

He was released after posting $20,000 bond.

INCIDENTS—Police are investigating an incident in which a security camera caught a subject knocking a security system off a wall.

“We believe we have an ID but have not yet made an arrest,” Goodrich said.

Other incidents investigated by police during the past seven days included driving while license invalid, duty upon striking unattended vehicle, evading arrest/detention and theft.

ACCIDENT—One traffic accident was reported during the past week, according to police.

That occurred at the Wilcox-Mill intersection at 11:21 a.m. Saturday.

Drivers were listed as Ralph Johnson and Anita Dentler, both of Rockdale.

Police said damages were reported as “minor” to both cars.

CITATIONS—Police issued 43 speeding tickets during the past week.

Other citations issued included two each for driving while license invalid and failure to report change of address or name and one each for displaying expired registration, failure to maintain financial responsibility and running a stop sign.

SERVICE CALLS— Officers responded to 161 calls for service during the seven-day reporting period, and there were 137 calls received through the 911 emergency system.
