POLICE REPORT

Rockdale police rescued what they said were three dogs left abandoned by their owners in two incidents during the week.

Lt. Stephen Goodrich said police found two unattended dogs in a room at the Budget Inn.

“This was someone we had already been in contact with over a report of mistreatment,” Lt. Stephen Goodrich said. “We have been attempting to crack down on people mistreating animals. It appears the subject simply left and did not take the dogs.”

Goodrich said the motel resident also took the air conditioning unit from the room.

In a separate incident, police found a dog in a residence which was apparently left behind when the owner moved.

“This dog had started to chew through the door,” Goodrich said.

He said the three dogs are being checked over by a veterinarian. “If everything checks out they will be taken to the city shelter,” he said.

“Animal cruelty can result in arrests with the punishment varying depending on the number of animals and severity of the incident,” Goodrich said.

METH—A Monday night traffic stop resulted in an arrest for possession of methamphetamine.

Mario James Medrano, 38, of Cedar Park was charged with possession of controlled substance (less than one gram).

ACCIDENTS—Vehicles operated by Erin Luce of Milano and Sandra Rhodes of Rockdale were in collision at 11:35 a.m. Monday in the Cefco parking lot. Damages were termed minor.

Police said a hit-and-run occurred at 8:52 p.m. Friday in the Banda’s Taqueria parking lot when a black Jeep struck a car driven by Anastasia Howeth of Bryan and left the scene. Moderate damage was reported.
