The Rockdale I SD iTigers programs continue to provide a much needed program for many of our students.

This week the Rockdale I ntermediate School’s Sandy Robbins has an update on this important program in our district:

The iTigers/ ACE programs, (Afterschool Centers on Education), have been very busy this year on each of the campuses, striving to make a difference.

At the I ntermediate school, the Teachers have been diligent in the daily afterschool Math and ELA/Reading tutorials, helping our students improve in both areas.

Homework help and reading time is also offered to students during the after-school hours.

Enrichment activities this semester at the intermediate include: gym, baking, gardening, computer lab, board games, construction and magnets, fun fitness, and arts and crafts.

The ACE/iTiger Arts and Crafts students will be decorating the hallway and the cafeteria for our yearly Thanksgiving meal that the I ntermediate students have with their family members, so they are busy with crafty activities.

Also, the baking class will be making a Thanksgiving dessert for the Senior Citizen Center’s meal served on Friday.

This year the intermediate and the elementary campuses started serving nutritious sack meals, instead of healthy snacks, to the iTiger afterschool students.

The high school and the junior high served the meals last year and the program was so favorable, the other two campuses followed suit this year.

The meals include an entré e, a vegetable, fruit and milk.

Our active students are really enjoying these larger portions of nutritious food.

For our parents, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are offered at the elementary on Monday nights.

Camp Gladiator workout classes are held at different campuses and different times:

• High school—Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 5 a.m.

• I ntermediate school–Monday and Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m.

• I ntermediate school–Tuesday and Thursday at 5 and 6:30 p.m.

Additional parent activities as well as a Community Advisory Council Meeting are being planned and information will be sent out soon.

Please plan to attend the Community Advisory Council in November, the exact date is to be announced, your input is very important to the ACE/iTiger program.
