ACE Tiger s is wel l underway at the Intermediate and Jr. High Schools. This is our second year in our 5-year grant. ACE Tigers (Afterschool Centers on Education) is Rockdale’s after-school program at the two schools. The ACE grant is funded by the 21st Century Community Learning Centers program which is administrated by the US Department of Education.
ACE classes are Monday through Friday with parent pick-up or bus transportation home. ACE offers a healthy evening meal served to all students staying after school, along with teacher taught tutorial classes, fun enrichment activities and a safe environment. Between the two schools, the ACE program will serve close to 300 students this school year.
Each campus offers program activities unique to their school’s students.
The Intermediate campus focuses on math and reading tutorials, homework help and then offers enr ichment act iv it ies. Some of our enrichment classes include cooking, gardening, math games, sports, board games, computers, Legos, and Build it!
The Jr. High also engages students in their classroom tutorials and offers exciting enrichment classes that are interesting to both boys and girls.
ACE Tigers also offers Parent and Family Engagement opportunities throughout the year. Some events will be offered from the campus and some are district-wide events. Your campus’s ACE Site Coordinators will share this information as it becomes available.
Once again this year, ACE Tigers is involved in and is looking forward to seeing students and parents in some great Halloween costumes at the Rockdale ISD Halloween Trunk or Treat event on Monday, Oct. 31, at the RHS stadium parking lot.
ACE Tigers will be celebrating a national event called “Lights On Afterschool.” The ACE Tigers Intermediate and the Jr. High ACE team will have a fun activity for all kids looking for a little fun for Halloween.
