National Music Week, sponsored locally by the Matinee Musical Club wraps up this week with activities on Wednesday.
Also, local churches are asked to sing the National Federation of Music Club’s hymn “To Thee Our God, Creator King” at Sunday services.
Mayor John King recently signed a proclamation declaring May 5-12 National Music Week in Rockdale as Annette Griesbach, Matinee Musical Club president, looked on.
Wednesday events included two performances by Dixie Whitmore’s Junior Keyboard Melody Makers at the Rockdale Senior Citizen Center and Rockdale Renaissance Villa.
Railroad museum sets drawing for layout
CAMERON—Drawing for the Milam County Railroad Museum’s 4-by-2-foot Terlingua train layout will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the museum in downtown Cameron.
Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20 and can be purchased at the museum from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday or during business office hours at the Cameron Chamber office, Milam County Agrilife office, the Milam County Historical Museum and the Bling Box.
Cemetery Association plans next work day
The Locklin Cemetery Association will hold a semi-annual work day from 8 a.m. to 12-noon May 18 at the cemetery.
Activities will include placing American flags on graves of veterans, light maintenance, trash pickup and pruning.
Those attending should bring shovels, rakes pruners, and trash bags.
