For the second time in 10 months, the Milam County Sheriff’s Department and the Texas Attorney General’s office Child Exploitation Unit have teamed up to charge a Rockdale-area resident with possession of child pornography.

Clifford Lee Stanberry, 48, was arrested Thursday at his home in the 500 block of Northwood Circle.

He was released from the Milam County Jail Saturday after posting $20,000 bond.

Sheriff Chris White said the 6 a.m. raid, came after a search warrant was issued by Precinct 2 Justice-of-the-Peace Sam Berry.

White was assisted by several deputies. Former Rock-dale Police Lt. J. D. Newlin, now a member of the AG’s Child Exploitation Unit was listed as the arresting officer.

PROBE—White said the sheriff’s department was notified by the AG’s office that it had “identified Stan-berry through electronic data as having viewed or downloaded pornographic images and video depicting children.

White added that as part of the investigation the AG Unit obtained a warrant to locate and seize Stanberry’s electronic devices as evidence.

“Several devices were recovered,” White said.

He said the raid was conducted “without incident.”

Northwood Circle is outside the Rockdale city limits, north of the US 77-US 79 intersection and just east of US 77.

EIGHT YEARS—In June of this year, 46-year-old David Wayne Carter, who lives south of Rockdale, accepted a plea bargain, that included an eight-year prison term, after being charged with two counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of promotion of child pornography.

He also waived his right to appeal the conviction and is required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Newlin launched that investigation after being notified by an online service that an account had uploaded what was suspected as child pornography.
