Easter is Sunday.
It’s not going to look like other Easters. It’s not going to feel like other Easters.
It’s not going to be like other Easters.
But maybe, just maybe, the situation in which we find ourselves could make 2020 a memorable Easter after all.
Yes, all kinds of gatherings can be canceled. But nothing can cancel Easter.
We can, and should, stay in our homes except for very good reasons.
But nothing can stop us from peeking through the blinds looking east, sunny or cloudy, Sunday morning and whispering—or shouting—“Alleluia!”
We can, and should, separate ourselves from our fellow members of the human race....for as long as it takes.
But we’ve also been assured nobody, or no thing, can separate us from the love of God.
Not even COVID-19.
Perhaps that’s how Easter, 2020, can become memorable. Perhaps all it takes is walking down a grocery aisle and fully realizing Easter is not about a half-full shelf.
It’s about an empty tomb.—M.B.
