The letter to the editor in the July 28, 2022 edition seemed to indicate that there was no local gun range available to the public or for the local police to qualify. That is not correct.
The American Legion Carlyle Post 358 maintains a gun range just outside city limits. It is available to the public with advance notice. To reserve the range, call us at 513-446-2996 or 254-231- 8909.
We are proud of the fact that the Rockdale Police Department, Milam County Sheriff's Department, and the Texas Department of Public Safety all practice and qualify at our range.
We do not charge any of these organizations anything for its use. This is a free service we provide for those that keep us safe. As an outdoor range, we can provide a more real-life environment than can be obtained indoors.
