Rockdale’s volunteer firefighters responded to a fire at 680 Cypress Trail at 2:59 p.m. last Wednesday and found “an illegal burn” had spread to a neighbor’s property, according to Fire Chief Ward Roddam. Two persons were arrested at the scene, one charged with reckless damage or destruction and one charged with reckless damage or destruction and cruelty to non-livestock animals, both misdemeanors. There were callbacks at 10:42 a.m. and 12:55 p.m. on Thursday. It was the second straight week for the RVFD to battle a blaze in 100-degree-plus heat.
