CASA of Milam County has announced that April is Child Abuse Prevention Month with a list of activities the public can do to help.

One April 5 at 6 p.m. there will be a free movie, 'Instant Family,' at the Kay Theater at 6 p.m. with free popcorn and drinks.

Light the County Blue is an ongoing event through April that invites donors to give $10 to the organization and receive a blue light bulb to show support in fighting child abuse.

A pancake breakfast will be held in Cameron at a date to be determined soon and the breakfast will be served by county judges, members of the District Attorney’s Office, Sheriff's Office, Police officers and Volunteer Fire Departments. The Reporter will report when we have the date and time.

A $50 donation will get you 10 pinwheels at your office to observe the month. Go Blue Day will be held on April 5. Wear blue to show support to fight child abuse and meet the group on the Milam County Courthouse lawn at 10 a.m.

National Blue Sunday will be held on Sunday, April 28, encouraging people to educate their church members about the effects and statistics of child abuse.

For questions or more information about how you or your group can participate, contact Rachel Owens at 512-429-1336 or email rachel.owens@milamcountycasa.org.
