An arrest last week in Thorndale ended a sexual assault of a child investigation for Rockdale police.

Lt. Stephen Goodrich said Don Craig, 50, of Rock-dale was arrested July 18 by Thorndale Police Chief Martin Jackson on a Rockdale PD warrant.

Goodrich said the case was an old one with the offense involving a female who was then “10 or 11 years old.”

Craig was also arrested on an immigration detainer.

He remains in custody. There’s no bond on the immigration detainer and $50,000 on the sexual assault charge.

OFFENSES—Police are investigating the theft of a riding lawnmower from Rockdale CarQuest.

Goodrich said damage to coin operated machines at a Rockdale laundromat is also under investigation.

A sexual assault was reported to police during the week and that case is also being investigated, Goodrich said.

Other offenses reported to police during the past seven days include theft, burglary, terroristic threat and disorderly conduct.

ACCIDENT—Police investigated an accident within the city limits during the past week.

That occurred at 4:36 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of West Cameron (US 79) when a vehicle operated by Patrick Adcox of Cameron was in collision with a power pole.

Damages were termed extensive.

CITATIONS—Police issued 114 citations during the week including 93 for speeding, two for curfew violation and one for minor in possession of alcohol.

SERVICE CALLS— Officers responded to 186 service calls during the seven-day reporting period and there were 99 calls received at the Rockdale Police Station through the 911 system.
