Rockdale Police cleared two cases from the previous week with arrests during the past seven days.
Police made an arrest in connection with an incident in which they said a man trying to repossess a trailer was beaten on the face and arms with a fireplace implement.
Thomas Anthony McElroy, 25, of Rockdale, was charged with aggravated assault with deadly weapon. He was released on $15,000 bond.
Police also charged Scott Ray Lewis, 43, of Rockdale with credit card/debit card abuse against elderly in connection with an incident also reported last week.
He was released on $10,000 bond.
DRUG ARREST—A traffic stop resulted in drug charges being filed after meth and cocaine were discovered, according to Lt. Stephen Goodrich.
Ursula Dawn Schlemmer, 53, of Rockdale, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (less than one gram), two counts; bond surrender, illegal dumping (1,000 pounds or less).
She was released on $11,000 bond.
CHASE—Police said a 30-year-old Rockdale man was arrested Thursday after a vehicle chase down Murray and around Veterans Memorial Park.
Goodrich said police had observed a vehicle going 50 to 60 miles per hour by the school.
Justin Chase Foster, 30, of Rockdale, was charged with evading arrest/detention with vehicle.
He was released on $10,000 bond.
ACCIDENTS—Police said injuries and minor to moderate damages were reported in a two-vehicle collision at 2:44 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of North Main.
Drivers were listed as Delores Graves and Jacqueline Wilcox, both of Rockdale.
Minor damages were reported at 5:49 p.m. April 29 on Rockdale Welding Co. property.
Police said drivers were Robert Borland of Temple and Debra Jackson of Rockdale.
Police said a two-vehicle accident was reported at 9:04 a.m. April 28 at the East Cameron (US 79)-Ackerman intersection.
Drivers were listed as Jimmy Balboa Jr. of Cameron and Linda McGuill of Bryan.
Damages were termed minor.
CITATIONS—Pol ic e issued 17 citations during to the week including one to a 14-year-old juvenile police said had taken a parent’s vehicle without permission.
Other included 15 for speeding and one for expired driver’s license.
SERVICE CALLS— Rockdale police officers responded to 194 calls for services during the past seven days. There were also 100 calls received through the 911 emergency system at the Rockdale Police Station.
BUSINESSES OF THE MONTH—The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce has continued to select businesses of the month, even though presentation photos aren’t possible due to social distancing. Brady’s Pest Control was honored in March and Climate Control in April.
