The Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary’s fall garage sale is set for Oct. 4-6 at the fire station, 305 E Avenue C. The group is now accepting donations and can be contacted for pick up. For more information, contact Thurla Hubert (512-45-3635) or Lois Love (512-455-7915).
PARENTS CLUB—Milano Parents Club will hold its next meeting on Monday at the Milano Elementary School cafeteria. The meeting gets underway at 5 p.m.
SUNFLOWER 5K—The first Sunflower/Melodie Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund 5K run/walk and kids one-mile fun run/walk is set for Sept. 29 at Davidson Creek Park in Caldwell. The event is in honor of Melodie Jones who died in a car accident in 2017.
Registration is $30 for the 5K and $25 for the kids run. Online registration is at www.melodiesmeow.com. Same day registration is 7:30-8:15 a.m. The kids run will start at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K is scheduled for 9 a.m.
BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION—Milano Elementary School is collecting Box Tops for Education again this school year. Those little coupons equal free money for our school and students. Let me know if you need me to swing by and pick them up, or you can send them to Milano Elementary School with your favorite student.
BIRTHDAY—Our family experienced a “first” this week. We now have a teenager living under our roof. Bradley turned 13 on Sept. 12. It seems like yesterday we were bringing him home from the hospital and now he is nearly grown it feels like. Happy birthday to our awesome young man.
