BATTLING THE BLAZE—Logs to Lumber, a woodworking businesses commonly called The Cedar Shop, was destroyed by fire just after 3:30 p.m. Friday. The Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department contained the blaze in about an hour and responded to a rekindle at 10:25 p.m. The business, located on US 77 just east of the US 79 underpass bought cedar and logs, converting them to furniture. Fire Chief Ward Roddam said the cause of the fire remains “undetermined” although a wood stove might be a possibility. “We did answer a previous call to a small ceiling area fire that was started by the wood stove last year.” No injuries were reported. There were several rekindles through the weekend.
