A benefit to defray expenses for an 11-year-old girl diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer is set for Sunday at the KC Hall.
Roxli Doss is the daughter of Scott and Gena Doss and granddaughter of James and Denice Doss.
It begins at 11 a.m. with barbecue plates sold by KC Council 7014 and continues with a live auction at 1 p.m.
Auction items include a barbecue pit, handmade 42-inch spool wood picnic table WITH four powder-coated tractor seats and a nine-foot crank-up umbrella.
Artist Deborah Grassel has created and donated a hand-painted egg especially for the event.
Silent auction tables will open and close during the day and Roxli’s jewelry go-fish will be available from 11 a.m. until sold out.
The event ends at 6 p.m. For more details go to the Rockdale Supports Roxli Facebook page.
Halloween looms next Wednesday
Halloween is next Wednesday (Oct. 31).
Traditional Rockdale trick-or-treating guidelines are unofficial and “self imposed” but it’s recommended the activity be confined to 5 to 8 p.m. and for children sixth grade and below.
And, of course, police ask motorists to be extremely careful with clogged streets full of excited youngsters, some in sight-restricting costume masks.
