The more construction proceeds on the 43.400-square-foot Rockdale Estates & Rehabilitation, the bigger it looks. The $6.5-million 84-bed facility is going up next to the Rockdale Intermediate School campus on west US 79 and the goal is for patients to occupy it in November, according to Laurie Kunka, co-owner. She told The Reporter workers are installing air conditioners and electricity is 80 percent roughed in. “Plumbers are working and bricks should arrive shortly,” she said. Kunka said $5,000 worth of shingles were stolen from the site during the week but the roof should be finished shortly.
