A bizarre incident that involved an unauthorized climbing of the city’s Mill Street water tower ended up on social media last Tuesday.

Lt. Stephen Goodrich of the Rockdale Police Department said two men—whom he termed “gang members”— had come to Rockdale.

“They got over a security fence, climbed the tower, got all the way to the top and were reported by city Public Works employees,” he said.

Goodrich said the city employees gave chase, then yielded to police.

“Officers got them stopped but one was very uncooperative and refused to obey a number of commands. At one point you can see him edging away,” Goodrich said.

The subject was tased but that effort was termed ineffective.

Jared Selman, 27, was charged with criminal trespass and was released after posting $3,500 bond. Goodrich said Selman has a lengthy criminal history.

Goodrich said a passer-by recorded the incident on phone and it was then posted on Facebook, receiving a number of comments.

The other subject was not charged, according to police.

CHOKINGS—Goodrich said two arrests during the past week involved choking incidents with female victims.

Quillan Marquis Davis, 26, of Rockdale, was charged with resisting arrest, search or transport, assault of family/household member/ impeding breath/circulation.

Goodrich said that suspect was also tased.

Davis remains in custody on $17,500 bond.

William Zachary Wallace, 37, of Rockdale, was charged with assault family/household member-impede breath/ circulation.

He was released after posting $10,000 bond.

CARD—Goodrich said a lost debit card was picked up and used to make a $650 purchase.

Carlos Dwayne Rubin, 45, of Rockdale, was charged with credit card or debit card abuse, failure to make court-ordered child support payments, motion to revoketheft of property ($100 to $750).

He remains in custody on $18,500 bond.

FENCES—Police said two juveniles were apprehended after a series of criminal mischief incidents which involved damaged fences.

ACCIDENT—Police said at 1:45 a.m. July 8 a vehicle operated by Brayden Burns of Rockdale collided with a utility pole in front of Miller-Starnes, breaking it in two pieces.

No injuries were reported and vehicle damage was termed “extensive.”
