A break-in at a downtown business during the past week has been linked with a forgery case and an arrest warrant has been issued in connection with both incidents.
Lt. Stephen Goodrich said a burglary was reported at Rubio Septic Service in the 200 block of West Cameron.
Goodrich said among the items taken were checks.
“Some of those were later forged and passed at Midway Grocery,” he said.
Police have identified a suspect and obtained a warrant, he said.
INCIDENTS—Other investigations begun during the past week include assault by contact, criminal trespass, an emergency detention order and several drug incidents.
WARRANTS—Police served six local warrants during the week, one each for assault, theft, displaying expired registration, failure to maintain finan-

cial responsibility, failure to appear and driving while license suspended.
ACCIDENT—One traffic accident was investigated during the past week.
Police said vehicles operated by Samuel Huckaby of Thorndale and Thomas Newton of Rockdale were in collision at 4:55 p.m. Feb. 12 at the intersection of Rice and East Cameron (US 79).
Damages were termed moderate to both vehicles, police said.
CITATIONS—Police issued 40 citations during the past week including 32 for speeding and four for expired registration.
SERVICE CALLS— Officers responded to 154 calls for service during the past week and there were 69 calls received through the 911 emergency system.
