Mike Brown, 72, who retired two years ago after a 46-year career with The Rockdale Reporter, including 22 years as editor, died shortly af ter 2 p.m. Tuesday at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple with his wife Sue by his side.
He had been battling acute T-cell lymphoma/ leukemia since being diagnosed about two months ago.
Brown joined The Reporter on a part-time basis to help cover the Rockdale Centennial in 1974, was soon hired full-time and advanced through the years from reporter to news editor and then editor.
Services are pending arrangements at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home. A full obituary will follow in next week’s Reporter. — Bill Cooke
