Car chase finally ends with arrest

POLICE REPORT

A vehicle chase that began on US 79 in central Rockdale ended in a rural subdivision Saturday when the driver pulled over and surrendered.

John D. Johnson, 37, of Rockdale, was charged with evading arrest/detention and possession of marijuana (less than two ounces).

Lt. Stephen Goodrich said Sgt. Jody Tillery spotted a man he believed to be driving without a license in the 600 block of East Cameron and attempted to stop it.

“Sgt. Tillery and Ofc. Nathan Law gave chase,” Goodrich said.

At one point Ofc. Davin Stevens blocked access to a road, confi ning the chase area, he said.

Johnson was released after posting $22,000 bond.

ARRESTS—Police said Lizza Michelle Flores, 28, of Rockdale was arrested on a probation revocation warrant and for possession of drug paraphernalia.

She remained in custody without bond.

A 60-year-old Rockdale woman was charged with credit/debit card abuse against elderly in connection with an incident in which unauthorized items were purchased on a credit card.

Bond information was not available.

ACCIDENTS—Three accidents were investigated by police in addition to the downtown crash Thursday afternoon. (See photos this page and page 1A).

Vehicles operated by Sandra Brice of Groesbeck, Hannah Fischer of Rock-dale and Ezequiel Castro-Escalente of Cameron were in collision at 7:07 p.m. March 21, at the Main-San Andres intersection.

Damages were termed “signifi cant” by police.

Minor damages were reported in a 1:20 p.m. Thursday collision in the 500 block of West Cameron (US 79). Drivers were listed as Samantha Tobar of College Station and Clemmie Bratcher of Rockdale.

Police said vehicles operated by Jonah Zamora and Henry Hill, both of Rock-dale, were in collision at 7:51 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Walter Pond Drive and US 79.

Damages were listed as moderate.

OFFENSE—Offenses investigated by police during the week included theft of metal (items recovered), two thefts and the report of two fake $100 bills passed, one each at O’Rielly Auto Parts and Dollar General.
