POLICE REPORT

Rockdale Police responded to a fight at the Fair Park carnival last Wednesday night, making one felony arrest and issuing several citations.

Lt. Stephen Goodrich said police arrived about 9 p.m., broke up the fight and pieced together what led up to the incident.

“A parent, who appeared to be intoxicated, got into an argument with a carnival worker because a child was not allowed to go on a ride,” Goodrich said.

“Reason given was that the child was too short to get on the ride and he was denied entry for safety reasons,” he added.

Goodrich said the carnival manager was summoned, the argument became more heated and at one point the parent punched one of the carnival employees.

“At that point it became Rockdale vs. carnies,” Goodrich said.

Goodrich said most of the melee appeared to have been parents attempting to get their children away from the situation.

He said one felony arrest was made. Harvey Lamar Locklin III, 24, of Rockdale was charged with assault on a public servant and resisting arrest, search or transport.

“The assault on a public servant charge involved a spitting incident and that’s what made this a felony,” Goodrich said.

Locklin was released on $25,000 bond.

Goodrich said three carnival workers were issued citations for disorderly conduct.

ARRESTS—An arrest on an outstanding Milam County warrant led to a drug arrest last Wednesday.

Goodrich said 2-1/2 grams of meth and a scale were found, leading to an additional charge of possession of a controlled substance (1 to 4 grams) with intent to deliver being filed against 29-year-old Aaron Wayne Norman.

He remains in custody on $49,000 bond.

RUNAWAY—Police said an elderly man became disoriented while driving to a store to buy a pack of cigarettes.

Goodrich said the man was located in Crockett, an east Texas town about 115 miles from Rockdale.

OFFENSES—Police said several juveniles are expected to turn themselves in after police investigated a break-in at the elementary gym which included several acts of vandalism and a theft.

Other offenses investigated included criminal mischief, criminal trespass and burglary.

CITATIONS—Twenty-eight citations were issued during the past week including 13 for speeding.

SERVICE CALLS—Officers responded to 115 calls for service during the past week and there were 112 calls received.
