The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce’s 70th annua l banquet on Thursday night drew a big crowd and new awa rd winners were announc ed towa rd t he end of the evening.

Citizen of the Year was won by David Melton.

Organization of the Year was the Rockdale Rotary Club.

Business of the Year was RIOT.

Outstanding Citizen of the Year was won by Elissa Benford- Roberts.

The Chamber-and-MDDsponsored leadership class also graduated that night. Receiving their awards were Julia Cardona, Joyce Daley, Shanna Johnson, Chuck Keagy, Mary Lou Loehr, Brittany Mantey, John Marshall, Victoria Otto, Weston Pokorny, Rita Quinn, Scott Starnes, Michelle Toungate and Kyle Cooke. Chairman of the Rockdale Chamber Victoria Otto was the Mistress of Ceremonies. The national anthem was sung by Serenity Porter and Pastor Stephen Ammons of Meadowbrook Baptist Church gave the invocation and benediction.

The evening’s speaker was Craig A. Krause with Direct Development Training, who gave a talk about employee development. Krause has also spoken to Fortune 500 companies such as Dell, GlaxoSmithKline, Wells Fargo, John Hopkins University and more.

A barbecue dinner with all the trimmings was provided by Thorndale Meat Market.

This year’s platinum sponsors were Citizens Nation-al Bank, Classic Bank, RIOT and Texas Workforce Solutions.
